Welcome to Christleton Parish Council
Why join the Parish Council ?
Look what “they” have done with the village green.
How can “they” allow them to build that monstrosity on the side of that pretty cottage?
When are “they” going to do something about the overgrown footpaths around here?
Why did not “they” do something about the mobile phone mast that has appeared behind the church?
Traffic and parking in the village is a nightmare. What are “they” doing about it?
Ever found yourself making comments and asking questions like these?
If so, you should do something about it and join the Parish Council. Of course, we are not the “they” in all those comments above, but we know and deal with the people who are responsible and our views have to be taken into account. The PC is the bottom rung of the democratic process in this country and statute dictates that we must be consulted by government on many issues.
Talking about democracy, many would argue that Parish Councils are the only truly democratic institutions we have. Parish councillors are locally elected, are not affiliated to any political party and are unpaid. Consequently, they work solely in the interests of the community where they live, while the procedures laid down by the Standards Board ensure that decisions are made collectively and conflicts of interest are declared. Political interests have been taken out of politics.
If you care about the place where you live and would like to influence its future, come along to any meeting and see how we work.
Be warned! If you really care, you will want to join.
